The Mysuru district units of AIDSO, AIDYO, AIMSS and AIUTUC on Sunday welcomed the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, describing it as a victory for the nationwide student movement, while asserting that their agitation would continue until the National Testing Agency (NTA) is abolished and public education is protected.
The organisations held a victory programme near Chikka Gadiyara in Mysuru on Sunday evening.
Addressing the gathering, AIDYO district president Sunil congratulated students, youth and the public for what he termed a historic victory achieved through sustained protests. He claimed the movement had demonstrated that a united student and youth community could compel even an “authoritarian government” to respond to public pressure.
AIMSS vice-president Seema said the agitation had emerged from widespread anger over alleged irregularities in the education system and rising unemployment.
