Overhead power cable was reportedly stolen from the Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd.’s (TNPDCL) branch office at Punnai Nallur area near nere on July 9.

Inquiries reveal that the theft came to light on Thursday morning when the workers came to the office, found the doors broken open and power cable, measuring around 1,750 metre, worth ₹1 lakh was missing from the stock pile.

Subsequently, a complaint was lodged with the Thanjavur Taluk Police who have registered a case and are investigating.
