Power bank sold for $27 recalled after 9 fires; one caused $2m damage

A NEWDERY power bank sold online for as little as $27 has been recalled in the US after nine reports of the devices exploding and catching fire, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). One of the incidents involved a serious fire that caused an estimated $2 million in property damage, while another resulted in a burn injury. The recall, announced on September 24, 2026, affects about 21,380 power banks with model number ZHX-PB22. The lithium-ion batteries inside the devices can explode or ignite, creating fire and burn hazards.
