Post-harvest loss in marine fisheries in Karnataka stood between 6.21% and 10.13%, says Union Government

Post-harvest loss in marine fisheries in Karnataka stood between 6.21% and 10.13%, according to a comprehensive study conducted by the Union Department of Fisheries through the National Productivity Council of India (NPC), an autonomous organisation under Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in 2023-24.
Informing this to the Lok Sabha on August 11, Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh said that Karnataka government has reported that, as per the studies done by the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (CIFT), the estimated post-harvest loss is around 6%.
He was replying to an unstarred question by member Captain Brijesh Chowta who wanted to know about post-harvest loss and bycatch from marine fisheries in Karnataka.
