Portion of Pune-Bengaluru national highway collapses near Belagavi
A section of the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway near Belagavi collapsed on July 29, 2026, due to heavy rainfall eroding an unfinished embankment. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) confirmed that the main carriageway was unaffected and that restoration work is underway.

MLA Shashikala Jolle visited the site and expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of work. She promised to bring it to the attention of Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. She demanded that the strip be rebuilt.
