Vice-Chancellor of Pondicherry University P. Prakash Babu has stressed on the need for a robust industry-academia interface in shaping the career of students pursuing tourism courses.
Speaking at the inaugural of a five-day conference on the topic “Bridging Tourism Academia and Industry: Indian and European Perspectives,” at the University, the Vice-Chancellor said industry-academia collaboration was essential in preparing tourism graduates for the real-world industry demands.
“Tourism being a highly dynamic and service-oriented sector cannot be taught through theoretical practice alone. Meaningful engagement with industry partners, tour operators, hospitality chains and heritage bodies was essential to keep the curriculum relevant and responsive to changes,” the V-C said.
