Pollachi Junction reached a new milestone in automobile freight movement by successfully unloading its first NMG (New Modified Goods) rake carrying cars.

The rake — made up of 25 specialised wagons — was loaded by Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) at their facility on 18 August, carrying 120 brand-new cars bound for Pollachi. It rolled into Pollachi Junction at 5:45 p.m. on Monday (24 August, 2026) and was moved into position for unloading at 5:55 p.m., a release from the Palakkad Division of Southern Railway said.
