Political parties urged to cooperate in transparent electoral roll preparation

Visakhapatnam district officials have urged political parties to cooperate in the Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll for 2026. The review highlighted a significant gap between estimated eligible young voters and actual registrations.
Why it matters
Ensuring the accuracy and transparency of electoral rolls is fundamental to the integrity of democratic processes and voter participation.
All political parties should cooperate in preparing a transparent electoral roll and submit written objections with supporting evidence if they find discrepancies in the draft roll, Visakhapatnam district Roll Observer S. Bhargavi said on Monday.
Ms. Bhargavi, who is also Director of Tribal Welfare, reviewed the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 process at a meeting with representatives of recognised political parties and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), along with District Collector Abhishikth Kishore, at the Collectorate.
