KUALA LUMPUR: The sessions court today fined political activist Jufazli Shi Ahmad RM11,000 after finding him guilty of uploading an offensive video on TikTok about former prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Judge Izralizam Sanusi imposed the fine after ruling that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt against the prosecution’s case.
Jufazli, 37, was ordered to serve 11 months in jail if he did not pay the fine.
In delivering the sentence, Izralizam noted that similar offences were becoming increasingly common on social media, with users becoming more brazen and irresponsible in producing offensive content.
