Vizianagaram Rural Police Station constable Ramana was killed when the vehicle in which he was travelling along with other police personnel overturned near Kondakaram village, outskirts of Vizianagaram on Sunday.

Sub-inspector Ashok of the Vizianagaram Rural Police Station and a few other constables sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the government hospital for the treatment.

According to the police, the team had gone to the village to conduct an inquiry and met with the accident while returning to the police station.

The vehicle reportedly after its brakes failed, overturned and plunged into narrow deep valley, adjacent to the newly constructed Vizianagaram Medical College.

Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police A.R .Damodar rushed to the spot and took up relief measures.
