Police to launch WhatsApp group for residents’ association functionaries in Kozhikode city

An online information-sharing platform for residents’ association functionaries will soon become a reality in Kozhikode city as part of the continuing fight against drug trafficking under ‘Operation Toofan’. As a first step, a new WhatsApp group comprising around 350 residents’ association functionaries will be created to facilitate the quick exchange of emergency information with the police.
According to senior police officers, the digital initiative is expected to address a long-standing grievance of residents who often feel they lack a dedicated, real-time platform to share information or complaints and seek prompt law enforcement action. The initiative will later be expanded with the support of other social media platforms and instant messaging applications, they add.
