South African police have seized 95kg of cocaine at OR Tambo International Airport following an intelligence-led operation. The drugs, valued at R28 million, arrived on a flight from São Paulo and investigations are currently underway to identify the smugglers.

JOHANNESBURG – Police are investigating the smuggling of over 90kg of cocaine discovered at OR Tambo International Airport.
The cocaine, with an estimated value of R28million, was found during an intelligence-driven operation that was executed following information received from SAPS Crime Intelligence's Border Integrity Unit.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the drug consignment was intercepted in a joint operation.
“The information was operationalised by members of the SAPS Visible Policing Unit at OR Tambo International Airport, in collaboration with Customs officials and Menzies Aviation operational members.
