Police personnel urged to prepare action plan for upcoming local body elections
Police officials in Anantapur and Sri Sathya Sai districts have been directed to create a comprehensive security plan for upcoming local body elections. The strategy includes monitoring sensitive areas, cracking down on illicit activities, and ensuring impartial law enforcement.
Why it matters
Proactive security planning is essential for maintaining democratic integrity and preventing violence during local electoral processes.
Deputy Inspector General (Anantapur) Shemushi and Sri Sathya Sai District Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar on Wednesday directed the police personnel of all sub-divisions to prepare a foolproof security plan to ensure peaceful, transparent and impartial conduct of upcoming local body elections.
Addressing the election preparedness meeting here, the officials assessed the law and order situation, pending cases, arrests, crimes against women and girls, social media, political, and SC/ST atrocities cases.
The DIG ordered identification of faction-affected, problematic villages and areas with past poll violence to implement special measures. Sub Divisional police officials must personally visit all villages, prepare lists of polling stations, wards, gram panchayats and sensitive, hyper-sensitive areas in coordination with Revenue officials, and crackdown on illicit liquor and belt shops, she said.
