Police in Nagalama have arrested a man suspected to be behind a series of motorcycle robberies in Mukono District. The suspect, identified as Kyeyune Julius, also known as Kavuma, was apprehended on 20 June 2026 at around 8:00 am during an intelligence-led operation in Kakira Village, Kasawo Sub-county. According to preliminary investigations, Kyeyune allegedly operated by travelling to areas outside Kasawo while posing as an ordinary passenger seeking transport to Kasawo. Upon arrival, he would reportedly direct unsuspecting boda boda riders to isolated locations in Kakira Village, particularly near vast sugarcane plantations, where he is suspected to have robbed them of their motorcycles. A search conducted at the suspect’s residence led to the recovery of housebreaking implements, including metal bars, cutters, pangas, motorcycle spare parts, and related tools. Police also recovered a motorcycle number plate, UGB 722Q, suspected to belong to an unidentified motorcycle; helmets and metal materials believed to be used in fabricating forged number plates; two AK-47 rifle cartridges; several smartphones; old motorcycle inner tubes; jackets; two driving permits; and other assorted items. All exhibits have been secured to aid ongoing inquiries.
