The police have launched a search for a group of men who allegedly went on a rampage and damaged a grocery shop, a house, and parked vehicles in Kolathur on Sunday night following a dispute over payment for cakes.
The incident occurred around 10.30 p.m. on Ambedkar Nagar Fourth Street, where Maripandi, 46, runs a grocery shop in front of his residence. According to the police, two men, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, visited the shop and asked for six cakes priced ₹20 each. They claimed to have only ₹100 and refused to pay the ₹120 bill. When Maripandi offered to sell them the cakes for ₹110, the duo allegedly began abusing him.
