Police officer arrested over murder of lawyer Kyalo Mbobu

A police officer was Thursday arrested in connection with the murder of Nairobi lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu.

Mbobu was trailed and shot dead in his car as he drove to his Bogani residence in Karen in September 2025.

Detectives termed the development a breakthrough.

Police revealed Thursday that the case, which had run cold, was cracked following the arrest of suspects in the murder of Dr Victoria Mutiso in July 2026.

Some of the suspects arrested over the murder of Dr Mutiso allegedly revealed to police a link to the murder of Mbobu, sources said.

Mbobu, a former chairman of the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal, was shot and killed on September 9, 2025, at about 5.30 pm.

Mbobu had represented Dr Mutiso’s husband, Prof David Ndetei, in legal proceedings.
