Police educate SVMC students on women’s safety, cybercrime under Operation Trishul

The first-year students of Sri Venkateswara Medical College (SVMC) were sensitised to women’s safety, cybercrime, substance abuse, and other emerging threats as part of Operation Trishul.

The awareness programme, conducted by the Shakti team on Monday, focused on eve-teasing, ragging, crimes against women, the POCSO Act, and other criminal laws. Additional Superintendent of Police M. Srilatha participated in the programme and urged students to remain vigilant about their safety and that of others.

Police personnel explained the functioning of the Shakti app and urged students to seek police assistance without delay in emergencies. They also cautioned them against cybercrime, including digital arrest scams, OTP frauds, suspicious links, unsolicited video calls, loan apps and honey traps.
