The deceased was identified as Viswanathan, a native of Dharmapuri district. He was staying in a rented house at Thanduma Nagar in St. Thomas Mount. The police said Viswanathan had recently taken leave to visit his hometown following the birth of his son. He returned to Chennai three days back and resumed duty.
