A police constable, Veluchamy, has been booked on charges of harassing a 58-year-old woman, A. Annammal, as she was harvesting a herbal root near his farm in W. Pudupatti on Wednesday.
The police said that the woman from R.C. North Street was reaping horse purslane root on the Government poramboke land near the farm of Veluchamy on Wednesday forenoon.
The policeman, who is posted in Chennai, had used abusive language against the woman and had pushed her down.
He threatened the woman with dire consequences if she again tried to repeat the same.
