SA Police Commissioner Grant Stevens has been named as the state's new governor.
SA Premier Peter Malinauskas said King Charles III had confirmed the appointment.
Mr Stevens will be sworn in as the 37th governor of South Australia on December 9.

SA Premier Peter Malinauskas made the announcement this morning, saying he had recommended Mr Stevens's appointment as the 37th governor of South Australia to King Charles III.
"It is the sovereign's appointment — [the governor] is the sovereign's representative in the state of South Australia," Mr Malinauskas said.
