Police arrest Kolhapur man, solve woman’s murder in Belagavi
Belagavi District Police have arrested a man from Kolhapur for the murder of a 59-year-old woman. The accused confessed to poisoning the victim after she pressured him to repay a loan of ₹1.5 lakh.

The Belagavi District Police have cracked the murder of a woman with the arrest of a man from Kolhapur.
According to Superintendent of Police of Belagavi district K. Ramarajan, Sankeshwar Police registered a case after the body of the woman aged over 50 was found near Sollapur village off Pune-Bengaluru National Highway on May 26.
Subsequently, Shabana Badshah Mulla from Sangli district in Maharashtra identified the body on June 1 to be of her mother’s. The police gave the name of the deceased as 59-year-old Bebi Badshah Sheikh of Tembalwadi in Kolhapur district.
Shabana Mulla then filed a complaint suggesting the involvement of Haji Mastan Mainuddin Bhagavan with whom her mother had had financial transactions.
The Superintendent of Police then constituted a special team to trace and arrest the accused. The team finally managed to trace him at Vikram Nagar of Kolhapur and arrested him.
