Police arrest gang for stealing copper and aluminum wires in Prakasam district

Prakasam district police on Monday (August 3, 2026) busted an inter-district gang allegedly involved in stealing copper and aluminium wires from electrical poles and transformers in agricultural fields. A team led by Santhamaguluru Circle Inspector P. Seshagiri Rao arrested seven persons.
According to the police, a group of friends who had fallen prey to bad habits and sought easy money, roamed around agricultural fields across Prakasam, Bapatla, Guntur, and Palnadu districts, cutting and stealing aluminium wires from electric poles to sell them. They recently stole the electrical service wire at P.V.R. Residency in Santhamaguluru on July 30, 2026.
