Poland arrests man over plot to kill PM Donald Tusk
Polish authorities have arrested a man accused of plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the defense minister. The arrest comes during a period of heightened tension in Poland following a series of violent attacks at schools.
Why it matters
The plot against high-level government officials, combined with recent school violence, highlights a volatile security environment in a country bordering the Ukraine conflict.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed the arrest hours after police received information about a possible assassination plot. Poland is still reeling from a wave of school violence this week.
