MEERUT: A 35-year-old man and his four-year-old son died after he allegedly made the child consume a soft drink mixed with poison before consuming the substance himself, police said on Saturday.Preliminary investigations suggest the incident was triggered by a dispute with his wife, who had stayed back at her parental home after a family function.The incident took place in Govindpur Shakarpur village under Kithore police station limits.Police identified the deceased as Kapil, a resident of Rahdara village, and his son Krishna, also known as Laddu.Kapil had married Kajal, a resident of Govindpur Shakarpur, around five years ago, and the couple had two children.According to police, Kajal remained at her parents' house after attending her sister's wedding on July 3."When Kapil came to take her home the following day, she asked to extend her stay for a few more days, citing family responsibilities, leading to an argument between the couple.
