Pohamba opens community library, calls for regional care centres
Former Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba has opened a community education centre in Okanghudi to provide local access to books, computers, and internet. He also advocated for the establishment of regional care facilities for the elderly and people with disabilities.

FORMER President Hifikepunye Pohamba has established a community education centre at his residence in Okanghudi, while calling for the establishment of centres for people with disabilities and homes for elderly people in every region.
The Hifikepunye Pohamba Centre aims to support access to education and learning resources by providing learners and members of the wider community with books, computers, free Wi-Fi and other educational materials.
The centre also has a dedicated children’s section, including a kiddies’ corner, providing a safe and stimulating space for young children while their mothers use the facility for studying and other educational activities.

It is equipped with 10 computers provided by the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, as well as photocopying facilities and free Wi-Fi to support access to information and digital learning resources.
