PMAY-Urban: Govt says 1.25 crore houses sanctioned, 1 crore delivered

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) and PMAY-U 2.0 have crossed 1.25 crore sanctioned houses, of which more than 1 crore have been completed and delivered to beneficiaries across the country, according to the Ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA).The scheme has also recorded a significant share of women beneficiaries, with 1 crore of the 1.25 crore sanctioned houses allotted to women, either in the name of the female head of the household or through joint ownership, said the ministry in a press release on Sunday.At the 8th meeting of the central sanctioning and monitoring committee (CSMC) under PMAY-U 2.0, held on August 6 in New Delhi, the government sanctioned 2.09 lakh additional houses for economically weaker section (EWS) families.The houses were sanctioned across Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.Of the 2.09…
