Plea to operate weekly, tri-weekly express trains daily from Kanniyakumari to Chennai

Member of Parliament C. Robert Bruce has appealed to Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw to increase the frequency of two express trains connecting Kanniyakumari and Chennai from weekly and tri-weekly services into daily service considering the huge demand for tickets on any given day.
In a memorandum submitted to the Minister recently, Mr. Robert Bruce said the Chennai – Kanniyakumar section via Madurai and Tirunelveli generates huge revenue for Southern Railway even though very few trains are being operated in this section and no overnight train had been introduced in this section during the past few decades. Hence, the Southern Railway should give priority for introducing new trains in this section.
