The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday directed the State to file a report to a public interest litigation petition that sought a direction to the authorities to frame and implement an effective monitoring mechanism to strictly enforce an 8 to 12-hour feed withdrawal timeline for live broiler chickens prior to transportation from poultry farms to traders.
A Division Bench of Justices C.V. Karthikeyan and R. Sakthivel was hearing the petition filed by Raj Mohamed of Pudukkottai. The petitioner also sought a direction to the authorities to ensure 100% ground-level compliance across all poultry farms.
