The bodies of Harriet Akoth and Hallian Odhiambo were retrieved by members of the public from the quarry at Kandemba ‘A’ Village, Nyajuok Sub-Location, South Alego Location, on Tuesday evening.
The quarry was filled with stagnant water and is located about 200 metres from the twins’ family home.
Information from villagers indicated that the twins had been left by their mother in the morning under the care of their neighbour.
The children reportedly went outside to play after lunch but are said to have wandered towards the quarry.
The caretaker was informed by villagers that the children had drowned. Members of the public retrieved the bodies before police arrived at the scene.
