Platform shelters in 10 railway stations on the west section to be replaced with new ones
Southern Railway has announced a renovation project to replace damaged and leaking platform shelters at 10 railway stations on the western section of Chennai. The project, costing ₹10.89 crore, aims to improve essential passenger amenities including paving and water facilities.

The platform shelters in several railway stations on the western section of the city, which are in a damaged condition and are leaking through the roof, are to be renovated. The suburban trains on the west section is operated from Moore Market complex station to Tiruvallur and Arakkonam via Avadi.
The Southern Railway has proposed to replace the old shelters in the platforms of 10 railway stations including Pattabhiram, Pattabhiram Siding, Pattabhiram E Depot, Annanur, Veppampattu, Egattur, Putlur, Kadambathur, Senji Panambakkam, and Mosur.
A senior official of Southern Railway said the platform shelters would be replaced at a cost of ₹10.89 crore. The shelters are being renovated as part of the project to provide minimum essential amenities such as paving of damaged platforms, improving water facility and accessway in 23 railway stations.
