MANILA, Philippines - Filipino students' scores in reading, mathematics and science have improved significantly in the 2025 Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), Education Secretary Sonny Angara said yesterday.

The Philippines recorded a mean score of 373 in science, 371 in mathematics and 367 in reading - up by 17, 16 and 20 points, respectively, from the country's 2022 results.

Based on its mean score, the Philippines outranked 14 countries in science, 16 in math and 18 in reading.

More Filipinos reached level two or higher - the baseline proficiency level measured by PISA, Angara noted.

"This is a significant achievement for learners and the entire Philippine education system. But more than the numbers, we are seeing evidence that learners are capable of making real and meaningful progress," he said.
