Pilgrims at the Shrine of Our Lady of Grace in Búzi, Mozambique, have been urged to reject violence, revenge, hatred and indifference in the southern African country that is weighed down by insurgency.
In his homily during the conclusion of the August 22-23 pilgrimage, the Vicar General of the Catholic Archdiocese of Beira urged pilgrims to instead promote forgiveness, reconciliation, solidarity and service in their families and communities.
“The pilgrimage must not be limited to a physical journey, but must produce a transformation in the lives of the faithful and in their relationships with their families and communities,” Fr. Sílvio Sirico Francisco Anovo said on Sunday, August 23.
He said, “We cannot come to the shrine to ask for graces and return home retaining hatred, revenge, injustice, violence, or indifference.”
