Physical education as important as academics for students, says Governor

Higher education institutions in India should prioritise physical education and integrate it into the curriculum in order to produce sports achievers who can compete on an international level, Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar has said.
Inaugurating a workshop on the theme “Redefining Sports and Physical Education in Higher Education” organised by the National College in Tiruchi in collaboration with the Bharathidasan Institute of Management and the State chapter of Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI) here, Mr. Arlekar said that physical training (PT) and physical education could no longer be treated as a minor subject in schools and colleges.
