Photo exhibition, colourful celebrations mark ‘Station Mahotsav’ of Tiruchi Junction
The Tiruchi Railway Division celebrated the 162nd anniversary of the historic Tiruchi Junction with a 'Station Mahotsav' event. The celebration included a photo exhibition, a vintage railway expo, and the release of a commemorative magazine highlighting the station's legacy.

Commemorating the rich heritage and long-standing legacy of the Tiruchi Junction, the Tiruchi Railway Division celebrated the ‘Station Mahotsav’ of the historic landmark on Monday.
The Railway Board, New Delhi, had identified 103 heritage stations throughout the country, including Tiruchi Junction, and asked the respective railway zones to hold Station Mahotsav (birthday celebration) at the chosen stations. The Tiruchi Junction traces its inception to August 1862.
The programme commenced with a procession from the Rail Museum to the Tiruchi Junction portico by railway officers, personnel of the Railway Protection Force, Scouts and Guides and railway employees. Upon reaching the station portico, balloons were released marking the commencement of the celebration.
A cake cutting ceremony was then held to commemorate the historic occasion followed by cultural programmes. A photo exhibition and an expo of vintage railway exhibits were organised.
