The phreatomagmatic eruption began at 6:06 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8.
Phivolcs warned that thin ashfall may affect the southwestern lakeshore towns of Agoncillo, Lemery, San Nicolas, Taal, and Batangas, as well as adjacent areas.
A phreatomagmatic eruption occurs when magma interacts with water, generating steam, ash, and occasionally fragmented volcanic materials.
