PhilHealth pays P210 billion for medical claims

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. paid a total of P210.09 billion for medical claims during the first half of the year, with PhilHealth data showing hemodialysis as the top medical procedure it reimbursed.

PhilHealth said it paid P48.76 billion for hemodialysis from January to June.

According to the agency, it also paid P4.88 billion for caesarian section claims, P3.5 billion for chemotherapy administration and P3.15 billion for facility-based emergency/outpatient emergency care benefit.

PhilHealth said the claims payment for intensity modulated treatment reached P3.11 billion, P2.93 billion for animal bite and P2.81 billion for the expanded newborn package.

The claims for normal spontaneous delivery package reached P2.73 billion, P2.46 billion for outpatient HIV/AIDS packages and P2.24 billion for maternity care package.

For Z benefits claims, which provides coverage for severe and catastrophic illnesses that require long-term hospitalization and high-priced treatments, the agency paid P1.82 billion.
