The Phase 1 of Census 2027 has been completed, and efforts are on to train officials towards preparing the District Census Handbook, Director of Census Operations for Tamil Nadu M. Sundaresh Babu said on Tuesday.

About 1.5 lakh officials, including about 1.15 lakh enumerators took part in the Phase 1 that concluded last month. “We have completed the Houselisting operations. We have commenced the training of officials for preparing the District Census Handbook. They will collect details such as roads, hospitals, educational institutions in revenue villages and towns for the handbook,” Mr. Sundaresh Babu said.

Comprehensive data in each of the revenue villages and towns would be collected by officials that will give a holistic picture of each of these units. Once the senior officials complete their training, officials would be trained at the taluk-level to collect data from various departments.
