The Department of National Defense (DND) and AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) marked the 75th anniversary of the Philippines-United States Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT) on Aug. 30, highlighting its role in defense cooperation and addressing common security threats.
The MDT had strengthened defense ties between Manila and Washington through military exercises, maritime security cooperation, humanitarian assistance, capability development and greater interoperability.
The DND and AFP had reaffirmed their commitment to deepen the alliance, with a focus on stronger defense capabilities, regional security, international law and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
