PGA Tour Championship: Ryan Fox cards early eagle in strong first round
New Zealand golfer Ryan Fox overcame a difficult start to card a four-under-par first round at the PGA Tour Championship. Despite early bogeys, an eagle on the third hole helped him finish in a tie for ninth place.

The final event of the season, with a limited field of just 30 players and a prize pool of US$40 million ($67.1m) and a quarter of that collected by the winner, the Tour Championship is the carrot dangling at the end of the season.
For Kiwi Ryan Fox, securing his place in the final field of the PGA Tour season was the latest milestone to tick off in a banner year. He was, however, coming in off a bad run of form in the previous two playoff events, played over the last two weeks.
That looked like it would continue two holes into his first round at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta on Friday morning, as he sat two-over with back-to-back bogeys to start his campaign.
