Christian Jack Joseph, a junior doctor, has been charged with manslaughter over the death of a 63-year-old man in Fremantle in the early hours of Saturday.
The Perth Magistrates Court was told the 26-year-old saw a man peering through the window of a friend's house and allegedly pinned him to the ground and placed him in a chokehold.
Mr Joseph was refused bail and will appear in court again on August 5.
