People of Holehonnur up in arms against proposed ring road for the town, to protest in Shivamogga on September 11
Residents and farmers in Holehonnur, Karnataka, are protesting against a government-proposed ring road project. They argue the project is unnecessary due to existing connectivity and will negatively impact agricultural land.

A recent order from the Urban Development Department for the preparation of Road Network Grid Plan covering 52 towns across the State — including Holehonnur in Bhadravathi taluk — has left people in and around the town worried.
The plan proposes ring roads for the towns concerned, as part of an exercise to regulate their growth and expansion. The other towns from Shivamogga district covered under the plan are Tirthahalli and Hosanagara.
The government order, dated July 18, has invited suggestions and objections from the public on the road network grid plans. Many have already submitted their objections to the offices of the respective Assistant Directors of the Directorate of Town and Country Planning.
