PDP, Pantami give INEC three days to publish name as Gombe governorship candidate

The PDP and its Gombe State governorship candidate, Isa Pantami, have issued a three-day ultimatum to INEC to include his name on the final candidate list for the 2027 elections. The party claims his omission is unlawful following his victory in a court-ordered primary election.
Why it matters
This highlights ongoing tensions regarding electoral administration and internal party politics in Nigeria's democratic process.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Gombe State governorship candidate, Isa Pantami, have issued a three-day ultimatum to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to publish his name on the final list of candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The law firm of Ahmed Raji & Co. conveyed the demand in a formal legal document dated 12 October, sent to the INEC Chairman and signed by senior advocates including Ahmed Raji, A.T. Kehinde, Abdul Mohammed, Wale Balogun, and Tunde Falola.
According to the solicitors, Mr Pantami’s name was “unlawfully and inexplicably omitted” from the final candidate list published by the electoral umpire on 10 October, despite his emergence as the winner of the party’s court-ordered fresh primary election.
