Passport Seva Kendra opened at post office in Periyar Nagar
The Indian government has opened a new Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Periyar Nagar, Chennai, to improve access to passport services. This facility is part of a broader initiative to integrate public utility services within local post offices.

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs L. Murugan launched the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in Periyar Nagar on Thursday.
This is the second such facility in the city after Chennai GPO. Pointing out that the new POPSK would benefit north Chennai residents, Mr. Murugan said the post offices had been integrated to provide public utility services, including banking, insurance, and Aadhar services, under a single roof.
The Union government is working to ensure that government services reach people at the grassroots level. The benefits of various central social welfare schemes are being transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefit Transfer mechanism since 2014.
