A passenger died after allegedly jumping onto the tracks in front of an approaching train at Huskur Road Metro Station on Bengaluru Metro’s Yellow Line on Monday (July 27) evening.
The train operator noticed the passenger on the tracks and immediately applied the emergency brakes. However, the passenger came under the train and succumbed, a BMRCL official said.
The incident led to disruption of services for nearly two hours from around 6 p.m.
The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Hiremath, aged between 30 and 35, a native of Raichur district in Karnataka. According to preliminary information, he had previously worked with a private news channel's English YouTube platform and had left the organisation several months ago.
