PETALING JAYA: PAS delegates at the 72nd muktamar have unanimously backed greater Malay-Muslim political unity ahead of the 16th General Election (GE16), signalling the party’s push for stronger cooperation.
The motion, tabled by PAS Ulama Council representative Zulqarnain Hassan, was approved after it was debated and supported by PAS Pahang delegate Nasaruddin Hassan.
In his speech, Nasaruddin said efforts to strengthen Malay and ummah unity did not mean sacrificing the party’s or religious principles.
“It is aimed at strengthening the unity of the ummah based on truth,” he said in a speech which was broadcast live on the party’s social media platform on Saturday (Sept 5).
