Parliament Monsoon Session Day 7 LIVE: Lok Sabha likely to debate Public Examinations Amendment Bill

The Indian Parliament's Monsoon Session faces disruptions as opposition MPs submit adjournment motions regarding police conduct during student protests and water rights disputes over the Cauvery River. These motions seek urgent government accountability and statements from senior ministers.
Why it matters
It reflects ongoing political tensions and the use of parliamentary procedures to challenge government policy on civil rights and regional resource management.
Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala submitted an Adjournment motion in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the alleged police excesses during student protests.
He requested that the regular business of the day in the Rajya Sabha be suspended “for an immediate discussion on the reported assault on peacefully protesting students in Delhi on 20 July 2026, the use of lathi-charge, tear gas and pellet guns, the alleged assault on women students and journalists.”
He also sought a statement from the “Union Home Minister clarifying whether the use of force was authorised and identifying those responsible and to seek a statement from the Hon’ble Prime Minister on the Government’s response, accountability and safeguards for the future. In view of these pressing concerns, the matter requires urgent consideration and discussion by the House”. WhatsApp Image 2026-07-28 at 9.31.22 AM.jpeg
