Pandya era coin unearthed
A coin dating back to the Pandya era was discovered by a resident in Ilangadu village, Thanjavur district. Antiquarians identified the artifact as likely being minted in 1251 AD during the reign of Sadaiyavarman Sundarapandyan I.

A coin dating back to the Pandya era has been recovered from earth at Ilangadu hamlet in Budalur taluk recently.
According to Mani. Maran, Tamil Pandit, Sarasvati Mahal Library, Thanjavur, a few days ago Mr. Kannan of Ilangadu stumbled upon an old coin while digging earth at Senganmedu ground located in between Ilangadu and Niyamam villages.
