Panchayat union primary school in Salem bags ISO certification
A 71-year-old government primary school in Salem has achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, becoming a model for public education through modern amenities like smart boards and digital libraries. The school also runs a unique 'Flight of Fantasy' program that rewards high-performing students with air travel experiences.

These are not the features of a posh private school, but of a 71-year-old panchayat union primary school at Kondappanaickenpatti, a panchayat belonging to the Salem Panchayat Union near Yercaud Foothills.
On May 7, 2026, it became the first government primary school in the district to receive the ISO 9001:2015 certification and is a shining example of what a government school can be.
Established in July 1955, the school currently has 680 students in classes 1 to 5. The classrooms are spread across two blocks, with block A housing classes 1 and 2 and block B housing classes 3 to 5. As for teachers, the school has 19, including two on deputation.
