Palani rope car service set to resume by September 12

The rope car service at Sri Dhandayuthapani Swamy Temple in Palani, which has been suspended since July 20, 2026, for annual maintenance, is scheduled to resume operations by September 12.
According to temple officials, all machinery underwent rigorous non-destructive testing (NDT), prompting the procurement of replacement parts. A newly procured shaft, worth approximately ₹3 lakh, was shipped from Kolkata and arrived on September 4. Gearbox maintenance and shaft installation are under way, and trial runs will be followed by attachment of new passenger cabins.
Parallel infrastructural upgrades are also being finalised at the lower rope car station. These include installation of a new roof, false ceilings, and granite wall cladding.
