Pakistan wants ACT hockey matches to be shifted from India to a neutral venue

The problems which used to crop up, almost inevitably, whenever India or Pakistan hosted a major multilateral cricket tournament seem to have become a regular feature in hockey as well. The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has asked the continental body to relocate the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy, scheduled to be held in Mohali and Jalandhar from October 27 to November 5, to another country, citing the “sensitive bilateral situation” between the two neighbours and the “prevailing security conditions”. Interim PHF president Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani said in a statement on Wednesday that at least Pakistan's matches should be held elsewhere to ensure “a safe, dignified and conducive environment for the national players and officials.” India and Pakistan are scheduled to face each other in Jalandhar on November 1.
